CopyCat is a browser extension that helps users copy text from webpages using OCR (optical character recognition), text selection, and link extraction. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

CopyCat does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically:

• No data is sent to Aleph Creative or any third party
• No analytics or tracking scripts are included
• No user accounts or registration is required
• No browsing history is collected or monitored

Local Storage

CopyCat uses Chrome's local storage API (chrome.storage.local) to save:

• User preferences (settings toggles such as auto-close, notifications)
• Copy history (last 20 copied text snippets, stored locally on your device only)

This data never leaves your browser and can be cleared at any time from the extension's settings.

Permissions

• activeTab: Required to read text content from the current page when you click a copy action
• scripting: Required to inject the snip overlay and read page text
• offscreen: Required to run OCR processing using Tesseract.js in a background document
• clipboardWrite: Required to copy extracted text to your clipboard
• storage: Required to save your preferences and copy history locally

OCR Processing

All OCR processing is performed entirely on your device using Tesseract.js (bundled with the extension). No screenshots or images are sent to any external server.

Third-Party Services

CopyCat does not use any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms.
