Color Lab runs entirely on your device. It does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, browsing history, or image content. Everything happens locally in your browser.
1. Who we are
Color Lab is a free Chrome extension developed by Aleph Creative ("we", "us", or "our"), based at alephcreative.com. This privacy policy explains how Color Lab handles information when you use it.
2. What Color Lab does
Color Lab is a color identification tool. It allows you to:
- Upload an image from your device to identify its colors
- Click any element on a webpage to extract its color
- View the HEX, RGB, HSL, and CMYK values of identified colors
- Get a real-world pigment mixing recipe for any identified color
All of this processing happens locally inside your browser. No image data, color data, or any other information is ever sent to our servers or any third party.

4. Permissions we request and why
Color Lab requests the following Chrome permission:
- activeTab — This allows Color Lab to read color values from the webpage you are currently viewing when you click the extension icon. It only activates when you explicitly interact with the extension, and it cannot access any other tab or your browsing history.
We request the minimum permissions necessary. We do not request access to your bookmarks, downloads, history, or any other sensitive data.
5. Third-party services
Color Lab does not integrate with, send data to, or load code from any third-party service. There are no ads, no tracking scripts, and no external API calls made by the extension.
6. Data storage
Color Lab may use your browser's local storage to remember your preferences (such as your last used color format). This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's extension data.
7. Children's privacy
Color Lab does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since we collect no data from any users, the extension is safe for all ages.
8. Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Color Lab handles data — for example, if a future version adds optional cloud features — we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
Continued use of the extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
